SEASONS

String Lake is unique in that it can yield excellent pictures of both the main Teton group and Mt Moran. If you look north from a middle point on the east shore of the lake a wonderful mirrored image of Mt Moran can be seen. This is the image you see in the above photo.

If you look south from the same point an excellent view of the Grand Teton and the cathedral group is visible. Any time from early summer to mid fall can yield a good image.

TIMES

Any time from just before sun rise to several hours after sunrise can result in interesting light and reflections. The above image was taken on a 35mm full frame camera with a 21mm lens.

LENS & FILTERS

LENS: 20-50mm for 35mm camera, 10-20mm for crop sensor cameras

FILTERS: 2 stop split ND at sunrise or HDR

FILMS

Slide films: Velvia 100 or Kodak E100SW

Negative films: Fuji Reala or Konica Impressa
